Above photo bottom row far right: In March, P-29 responded to a person down in the Bon Tempe spillway. In a collective effort with Marin County Fire and the National Park Service, RELS Paramedic Jon Canaan used his rescue and climbing experience to aid a stranded man in the bottom of the spillway. The victim was located and loaded into a Stokes basket litter and attached to a belay line, which was secured to the bridge crossing the top of the spillway. Jon belayed the rescuers and victim safely to the top of the spillway where the victim was then loaded into P-29 and transported to Marin General Hospital. The patient suffered a fractured ankle and was released later that day.
